France finished atop its group in dominant fashion, while Cape Verde continued its remarkable Cinderella run by advancing to the knockout stage in its first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance.

France rested few stars against Norway and rolled to a convincing 4-0 victory behind a natural hat trick from Ousmane Dembélé. Norway, which opted to rest several key players after already securing qualification, finished second in the group. Senegal also punched its ticket to the Round of 32 as one of the tournament’s best third-place teams after routing Iraq 5-0. Iraq’s task became even tougher after an early red card left them playing with ten men for most of the match.

Cape Verde continued to surprise the soccer world by battling Saudi Arabia to a scoreless draw. The result, combined with Spain’s 1-0 victory over Uruguay, secured an incredible second-place finish for Cape Verde in its World Cup debut. Spain claimed the top spot in the group thanks to Alex Baena’s lone goal, while Uruguay’s tournament came to an end after failing to generate enough scoring chances in a must-win match.

Egypt and Iran split the points in a 1-1 draw. Egypt struck first through Saber in the fifth minute before Iran answered just ten minutes later with an equalizer from Ramin Rezaeian. Belgium wrapped up first place in the group with a convincing 5-1 victory over New Zealand, led by a two-goal performance from Leandro Trossard. Egypt advanced as the group runner-up, while Iran must wait to see if it qualifies as one of the tournament’s top third-place finishers.

The final day of group-stage action arrives tomorrow with six decisive matches.

At 5 p.m., Croatia faces Ghana while Panama takes on England. The 7:30 p.m. slate features Colombia against Portugal and DR Congo versus Uzbekistan. Group play concludes at 10 p.m. with Algeria meeting Austria and Jordan taking on defending champion Argentina.
