MILFORD — Two of the top teams in Massachusetts District 4 American Legion Baseball will square off Friday night as Milford Post 59 welcomes Leominster Post 151 to Fino Field for a pivotal 7 p.m. matchup.

The game features the league’s top two teams entering the weekend, with Leominster sitting atop the standings at 10-1 and Milford close behind at 10-2. A Milford victory would move Post 59 into first place as the regular season approaches the final stretch.

The matchup also pits the league’s most explosive offense against its stingiest pitching staff.

Milford has been an offensive juggernaut all season, leading District 4 with 139 runs scored, nearly doubling the output of several teams in the league. Post 59 enters Friday riding a five-game winning streak after sweeping a doubleheader against North County earlier this week, outscoring its opponent 26-6.

Leominster, meanwhile, has built its first-place record with dominant pitching and defense. Post 151 has surrendered just 20 runs through its first 11 games, the fewest in District 4, giving up fewer than two runs per contest on average.

Adding to Milford’s confidence is its success at Fino Field. Post 59 has yet to lose on its home diamond this season, compiling a perfect 5-0 record while feeding off the energy of the hometown crowd.

Friday’s contest promises to be one of the biggest games of the District 4 regular season, featuring the league’s highest-scoring lineup against its toughest pitching staff. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Fino Field, with fans encouraged to arrive early for what could have major implications in the race for the District 4 title.
