MILFORD, MASS. — Milford Post 59 found itself on the wrong side of one of the most dramatic games of its American Legion season on Thursday night, falling to Grafton Post 92 by a score of 12-11 in a back-and-forth contest that wasn’t decided until the final swing.
After both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings, the offenses erupted. Milford seized momentum by plating nine runs across the third, fourth, and fifth innings, building a 9-7 advantage heading into the sixth.
Grafton answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to even the score at 9-9, setting up a tense final inning. Milford appeared poised to escape with a victory after scoring two runs in the top of the seventh to reclaim an 11-9 lead.
However, Grafton had one final rally left. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, center fielder Charlie Law delivered the decisive blow, ripping a bases-clearing double that brought home three runs and secured a 12-11 walk-off victory for Post 92.
Despite the loss, Milford’s offense produced several standout performances. Left fielder Nick Pedroli enjoyed a monster night at the plate, going 4-for-5 with five RBIs. Brayden Lewis, Josh Bouchard, and Sam Schoenberg each drove in two runs as Post 59’s lineup consistently applied pressure throughout the evening.
For Grafton, first baseman Haylen Oberg and Law each finished with three RBIs, with Law’s game-winning hit providing the night’s biggest moment.
The loss drops Milford Post 59 to 5-2 on the season. They’ll have little time to dwell on the defeat as they return to action tonight against Hudson Post 100 at Fino Field, looking to bounce back and get back into the win column.
