FRANKLIN, MASS. — Franklin Post 75 continued its dominant start to the American Legion season Tuesday night, defeating Needham Post 14 by a score of 12-2 to improve to 4-0 on the summer.
The game didn’t begin in Franklin’s favor, as Needham jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. However, Post 75 quickly responded and seized control with an offensive explosion, scoring 11 runs across the second and third innings to turn an early deficit into a commanding lead.
Shortstop Jack Sullivan led the charge at the plate, finishing with two hits and four RBIs. Sullivan’s biggest swing came on a home run that helped fuel Franklin’s offensive outburst. Third baseman Patrick Luizzi also enjoyed a productive night, piling up six total bases and consistently putting pressure on the Needham defense.
Designated hitter Joe Goguen was nearly perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 as Franklin’s lineup continued to produce from top to bottom.
While the offense stole the headlines, pitcher Colin Mont delivered another strong performance on the mound. Mont worked all five innings, allowing just two runs while striking out three batters to earn the victory.
The win continued what has been a remarkable start to the season for Franklin. Through four games, Post 75 has outscored its opponents by an astounding 63-3 margin, showcasing both a potent offense and stingy pitching staff.
