David H. Minkle, 83, of Hopkinton
1949 - 2026

Born in Framingham, David was the son of the late Henry F. and Edith (Davis) Minkle.

Dave spent his entire professional career in food sales and proudly owned his own Pepperidge Farm bread distributorship. Following retirement, he continued serving his community through volunteer work at the Hopkinton Senior Center, where he drove fellow seniors to medical appointments and helped them maintain their independence.

A lifelong car enthusiast, Dave especially loved working on his vehicles, including his prized 1968 Chevy Nova SS. He spent countless hours in his yard, took pride in keeping things running smoothly, and found joy in the simple routines of everyday life.

Dave had a special place in his heart for dogs and never met one he didn’t like. Friends and neighbors knew he always carried treats in his pocket for any four-legged companion he encountered.

In addition to his wife Pegge, he is survived by his daughter, Sherri Hussar and her husband Joe; his sister, Cindy Gray; and his cherished grandsons, Joey and Matt Hussar. He also leaves behind many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.

He was predeceased by his brother, Warren Minkle, who passed away as a young child, as well as a beloved brother-in-law and sister-in-law.

Dave was known for his quick sense of humor, his collection of dog-themed T-shirts, and his willingness to share a funny story with anyone who would listen. He proudly served as the official taste tester of Pegge’s chocolate chip cookie dough and never missed an opportunity to talk about New England sports, the weather, or his beloved grandchildren.

Being a grandfather brought him tremendous joy. Whether attending games in person or watching online, Dave was always cheering on Joey and Matt. He loved sharing stories about their accomplishments and made sure they knew how proud he was of them.

He also treasured the time he spent with his daughter Sherri and son-in-law Joe, always looking forward to their visits, conversations, and adventures together.

Above all, Dave cherished the life he shared with Pegge. Their 56-year marriage was built on love, laughter, friendship, and unwavering support. Whether camping along the Cape Cod Canal, attending car races, taking day trips, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, he valued every minute spent by her side.

Dave will be remembered for his warmth, humor, devotion to family, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. His legacy lives on in the countless memories he created with those he loved.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11th from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 57 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton.
