UPTON, MASS. — The Nipmuc Warriors girls lacrosse team made program history Wednesday, defeating Lynnfield 12-11 to advance to the state semifinals for the first time ever.

In a tightly contested game, Nipmuc delivered when it mattered most in the fourth quarter. Madison Fernandes scored the game-winning goal late in the final frame, continuing a season in which she has been one of the Warriors’ most steady and reliable contributors.

Before Fernandes’ heroics, Jayden Lilburn came through in a crucial moment, converting a free-position opportunity to tie the game and keep Nipmuc’s championship hopes alive.

Senior captain Riley Collura played a key role offensively, consistently creating opportunities for her teammates and helping the Warriors maintain pressure throughout the contest.

The Warriors’ defense proved to be the difference-maker. Senior captain Madelyn Weibe and junior captain Ana Tengler anchored a disciplined unit that stayed organized and composed throughout the game. Their leadership and communication helped Nipmuc withstand several Lynnfield scoring runs and remain focused in key moments.

Goalkeeper Charlotte Corbin also delivered a standout performance, making several important saves. Her biggest came in the closing seconds when she stopped a free-position shot that could have tied the game and forced overtime.

The win marks a historic milestone for the program, as Nipmuc earns its first-ever Final Four appearance.

The Warriors will now face top-seeded Sandwich Blue Knights in the state semifinals on June 8 with a trip to the state championship game on the line.
