She was the beloved wife of Pastor Jose Del Carmen Medina.
Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Igdalia was the daughter of the late Enrique Ortiz and Juana (Gonzalez) Ortiz. She graduated from Antonio Bandillo Hernandez High School and devoted her life to faith, family, and service to others.
As a young woman, Igdalia worked in Environmental Services at MWMC from 1982 to 2002. She later served faithfully as First Lady of Nueva Jerusalen from 2000 to 2022 and proudly stood beside her husband in ministry since 1975.
Before settling in Milford, Igdalia resided in Framingham and New York. She became known throughout her community for her kindness, compassion, and dedication to helping others through her church work and outreach efforts.
An accomplished seamstress with a beautiful singing voice, Igdalia used her many talents to support her church and community. Alongside her husband, she served as a chaplain and helped organize fundraising events benefiting children and families both locally and internationally.
She is survived by her children: Jose Medina and his wife Scarlett Medina of Massachusetts; Othoniel Medina and his wife Evelyn Medina of Millbury; Juana Gonzalez of Milford; Igdalia Medina of Milford; and Federico Medina of Framingham.
She also leaves behind her siblings: Abednego Ortiz of Framingham, Eunice Roman of Oviedo, Florida, and Damaris Ortiz of Milford.
Igdalia will be remembered for her unwavering faith, loving heart, beautiful spirit, and lifelong dedication to serving others. Her legacy of compassion and devotion will continue through all who knew and loved her.
Visiting hours and funeral services for Igdalia Medina will be held Tuesday, May 26th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Liberty Church, located at the 495 Hartford Turnpike in Shrewsbury.
A family gathering will take place Wednesday morning on May 27th at 10:00 AM at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, located at 44 Congress Street in Milford.
Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
