1945 - 2026
Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Doris (Dexter) and Henry Halloran.
Ed dedicated more than 30 years of his life to General Motors in Framingham, where he worked as a car assembler. He also proudly served his country as a member of the National Guard for seven years.
Known around town as the “Old Pro Handyman,” Ed was a master of finish carpentry and had a remarkable talent for building and repairing just about anything. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and was deeply appreciated for his generosity and willingness to help others.
An exceptional athlete throughout his life, Ed starred in baseball and basketball at Framingham High School and remained a passionate sports fan for decades. He especially loved golfing and treasured his time with friends at the St. Linus Golf League at Pinecrest. A devoted Boston Celtics fan, he rarely missed a game.
Above all else, Ed loved his family. He took immense joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Known affectionately as “Grampy,” he delighted in spoiling his grandchildren and often playfully bent the rules just to make them smile — and occasionally to tease his own children.
He is survived by his daughters, Deborah McBride and her husband Stephen, Carly Halloran, and Jodie Baker and her husband Ryan, all of Hopkinton.
He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Megan Urella, Gabriella Lubke, Jack Lubke, Brody “Bud” Baker, Colbie Baker, Austin Baker, and Riley Baker; along with his great-grandchildren, Enya and Gianna Urella.
Ed will be remembered for his kindness, humor, craftsmanship, love of sports, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Hopkinton Country Club.
Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed’s memory to Massachusetts Special Olympics in honor of his grandson, Bud: Massachusetts Special Olympics.
