Born in Groton, Connecticut, she was the beloved daughter of the late Reuben and Theresa (Johnson) Lewis.
Elly was predeceased by her husbands, Ernest Bigwood and Albert Convery; her siblings, John Lewis and Marion Benoit; and her parents.
A woman with a joyful spirit and deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, Elly found happiness in nature, animals, and the beauty of Cape Cod. She especially loved hiking, spending time outdoors, and sharing laughter with family and friends. Her warmth, kindness, and fun-loving personality left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Faith was central to Elly’s life. She was a devoted longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Westborough, where she found friendship, purpose, and community through the years.
She is survived by her brother, Henry Lewis of Brimfield; her children, Donald Bigwood and his partner David of Mendon, Donna Stanish and her husband Peter of Guilford, Connecticut, Paul Bigwood and his husband Paul of Shrewsbury, Paula Bigwood and her husband David of Shrewsbury, and Peter Bigwood and his wife Kristin of Westborough.
She also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her stepchildren Albert, David, Carol, and their families.
Elly’s love of family, faith, and the outdoors will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
A Celebration of Eleanor’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 23rd at 1:00 PM at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located at 183 West Main Street in Westborough.
Burial at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton will be held privately with her family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she was a devoted longtime member.
