Known to many as “Sandy,” Doug was born in Boston and was the eldest of three children born to the late Douglas F. Ingram and Ann Louise (Sitzer) Ingram. He was raised in Vernon, Connecticut.
Much of Doug’s life revolved around the Berkshires, a place that held a special place in his heart. Summers were spent at the family cottage on Greenwater Pond in Becket, where he created lifelong memories with family and friends. Following retirement, he made the Berkshires his full-time home, continuing to share his love of the lake, the region, and its cherished traditions with those closest to him.
Doug’s personality and passions were unmistakable. A Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle was never far from reach, his golf clubs were always packed in the car, and fishing worms could often be found tucked away in the refrigerator. He enjoyed working in the yard, tackling DIY projects, and spending time in the kitchen preparing meals to share over good conversation and a bottle of wine.
He especially loved long beach days, his beloved Boston Terrier Alice, hosting memorable Fourth of July fireworks celebrations, and enthusiastically conducting along to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture during Tanglewood on Parade performances.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Heather Ingram of Seattle, Washington; his son, Todd Ingram of Penacook, New Hampshire; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Paul Campbell of Manchester, Connecticut, and Deborah and Billy Lewis of Venice, Florida; as well as his grandchildren, niece, nephews, and many extended family members and dear friends.
Doug will be remembered for his warmth, humor, love of family, and appreciation for life’s simple joys.
A private family burial will be held in Lee, Massachusetts, at a later date.
There are no calling hours.
In Doug’s memory, raise a glass, share a story, and enjoy a good laugh in his honor.
