Andrew J. Rivers, Jr., 84, of Northbridge, passed away on May 6, 2026.
Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on February 15, 1942, he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Florence (Lamonde) Rivers. Andrew lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and compassion for others.
He attended college in Minnesota and later completed medic training through the United States Naval Academy. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Andrew proudly served his country as a Corpsman in the United States Navy. His military service was a source of great pride throughout his life and reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment to helping others during uncertain times.
Following his military service, Andrew worked for a liquor distributor and later drove for the Classique Limo Company, where he transported wedding parties and special occasions. In every role, he was known for his reliability, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
On May 28, 1976, Andrew married the love of his life, Sharon A. (Rocheleau) Rivers. Their marriage was built on love, companionship, and devotion, and together they shared many meaningful years filled with family and treasured memories.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, Andrew is survived by his brother, Gary Rivers and his wife Susan of Whitinsville, and by his niece, Randi Rivers of Whitinsville.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Buma Funeral Home, 480 Church Street, Whitinsville.
A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM in the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will take place afterward at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Route 122 at Northbridge.
Memorial donations may be made in Andrew’s memory to the Milford Humane Society, located at the P.O. Box 171 in Medway.
