
1936 - 2026
Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, on November 23, 1936, he was the son of the late James and Josita (Boudreau) Sheppard. Gerry was raised in Canada before coming to the United States in 1958. He first settled in Jamaica Plain and later made his home in Medway for 31 years before relocating to Plainville 27 years ago.
Gerry worked as an electronics technician for Sears for 19 years before retiring. He proudly served in the Canadian Air Force and carried that sense of pride throughout his life.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and found great pleasure in playing golf and being in the company of loved ones.
In addition to his wife, Delores, he is survived by his children: Gerald Sheppard and his wife Janice of Spofford, New Hampshire; James Sheppard of Plainville; William Sheppard of East Bridgewater; and Cathy Converse and her husband Thomas of Plainville.
He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Sheppard, and his daughter-in-law, Sherrie Sheppard.
Gerry is also survived by his siblings: Sharon Ledger and her husband Joseph, Barbara Patterson of Halifax, Robert Sheppard and his wife Gail, and George Sheppard and his wife Roberta, all of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Krystine DeGrosso, Stacie Converse, Andrew Sheppard, Amanda Lema, Jenna Wilson, Amber Sheppard, Sarah Sheppard, and Hannah Sheppard; as well as his great-grandchildren, Joshua, Liam, Tommy, Henry, Harper, Alexi, Layla, Avery, Carter, Wesley, and Wyatt.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 30 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Medway.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the Mass on Thursday from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street, Medway.
Donations in Gerry’s memory may be made to the friends of the Framingham Heart Study, located at 73 Mt. Wayte Ave., Suite 2 in Framingham.
