Milford Baseball Falls to Mansfield in Third Straight Loss

Milford’s baseball team was shut out yesterday afternoon, falling 3-0 to Mansfield in a game that remained close for most of the day before the Hornets pulled away late. The Scarlet Hawks were down just 1-0 until the sixth inning, but Mansfield added another run in the sixth and one more in the seventh to close the door.

Milford managed only three hits in the game, with Ryan Flis, Vincent Loscerbo, and Joey McGee each recording a single. The Hawks had some solid pitching moments as well. Brody Prescott started and worked 1.1 innings, allowing one run and two hits, while Jaxen Lindsey was strong in relief, going 5.2 innings and giving up zero earned runs while striking out six. Milford’s pitching kept the game within reach, but three errors led to two unearned runs and made the margin tougher to overcome.

The loss drops Milford to 3-4 and gives the team its third straight defeat. Even so, there is time to reset before the next game. The Scarlet Hawks now have a break before facing Algonquin next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The Titans are also struggling at 0-6 after a 5-0 loss to Westborough, so Milford will have a chance to stop the slide if it can get the bats going again.
