WHITINSVILLE — The Whitin Community Center has been awarded a Greater Milford Community Network CHNA-6 Community Grant to help launch a new initiative aimed at supporting families across the Blackstone Valley.
In partnership with the Uxbridge Police Department and the Blackstone Valley Interagency Coalition, the funding will support the creation of the Blackstone Valley Essential Needs Distribution Network.
The program is designed to improve access to everyday necessities such as food, clothing, hygiene products, and basic household items. Organizers say that while many organizations receive donations, there hasn’t always been an easy or coordinated way to distribute those resources efficiently across the region.
The new network will create a centralized system to collect large-scale donations, organize and store items, and distribute them to local nonprofits, food pantries, shelters, churches, and service agencies. By working together, participating organizations aim to reduce waste, streamline communication, and ensure donations reach those who need them most.
The Whitin Community Center, a longstanding hub for recreation and community programs in the Blackstone Valley, says the initiative is another step in its mission to support the health and well-being of local individuals and families.
