Northbridge’s softball team finally broke into the win column yesterday afternoon, edging Leicester 4-2 in a competitive game that gave the Rams a much-needed early-season boost. Northbridge came in at 0-3 after losses to Notre Dame, Uxbridge, and Oxford, so getting this result was an important step forward for the group.
The Rams also entered the game after a 9-4 loss to Oxford on Monday, a contest in which Aliana Jimenez hit a home run and Lorelai Drapeau drove in three runs. Against Leicester, Northbridge played cleaner softball and found just enough offense to finish the job. Drapeau once again delivered a major blow, belting a two-run home run, and Kallie Tevepaugh added two RBIs to help the Rams secure the victory.
The win improves Northbridge to 1-3 and gives the team a positive result to build on after a difficult opening stretch. The Rams now have a bit of a break before facing Worcester Tech this upcoming Monday at 3:30 p.m. Worcester Tech is 0-1 after a 22-3 loss to St. Bernard’s, but still has a matchup with Worcester South tomorrow before meeting Northbridge. The Rams will look to carry the confidence from this win into their next game and continue to tighten up on both sides of the field.
