MILFORD – Officials from Milford have prevailed in a federal civil lawsuit related to a 2020 police-involved shooting.
A judge dismissed a $5 million lawsuit filed by Viviane Ptak over the death of her son, Philip Castonguay, who was shot by a police officer. The court granted summary judgment in favor of the defense on three counts, determining the officer’s actions were objectively reasonable given the perceived threat.
The remaining 11 claims were dismissed without prejudice, meaning they can be refiled in state court.
