
1947 - 2026
Alan grew up in Uxbridge and graduated from Uxbridge High School, where he was both an athlete and Class President. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan (Place) Keeler, and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. During multiple tours in Vietnam, he served in both Infantry and Military Police units, rising to the rank of sergeant and earning numerous honors for his bravery and leadership.
After returning home, Alan worked as a truck driver and part-time police officer in Uxbridge during the 1970s before finishing his career as a security officer.
Alan was deeply committed to his community and gave his time generously in many roles. He served as a Sunday School teacher at the First Congregational Church of Uxbridge, coached Uxbridge Little League and Babe Ruth baseball, and held leadership roles including Thayer Fund Library trustee, Uxbridge School Committee member, Cub and Boy Scout leader, and member of the Uxbridge Water Conservation Committee. He also contributed to the Uxbridge Police and Fire Station Building Committees, was active with the Uxbridge Flying Squadron, and served as an usher and grounds trustee at North Uxbridge Baptist Church.
He was a longtime member and officer of the Uxbridge Rod & Gun Club, Whitinsville Rod & Gun Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge, where he was a member for more than 50 years.
Alan loved sports and was an enthusiastic fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, University of Massachusetts Minutemen, and Uxbridge Spartans. He will be remembered for his strength, intelligence, humor, kindness, and unwavering faith. Above all, he cherished his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Keeler and his wife Charlotte of Uxbridge, John Keeler of Uxbridge, and Heidi Keeler Stuck and her husband Aaron of Papillion, Nebraska; his brother, Harley E. Keeler III and his wife Angie of Florida; his sister, Carol Yacino and her husband Tony of Buzzards Bay; nine grandchildren, Emily Fournier, Alex, Kelly, Carrie, and Katelyn Keeler, Samantha, Evelyn, Jesse, and Danielle Stuck; and two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Drew Fournier.
He was predeceased by his brother, William H. Keeler.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Buma Funeral Home, 101 North Main Street, Uxbridge, and on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Uxbridge, 8 Court Street, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Mendon.
