The Blackstone-Millville Chargers ran into a powerful Millis Mohawks squad in the Round of 32 last Friday and were dispatched 50-22 in a game that proved how steep the competition is in the upper echelon of the bracket. Blackstone-Millville played hard and fought for possessions, but Millis was able to impose its size and tempo, converting enough opportunities to pull away in the second half.
Adrianna Girard produced a stat line that showed her two-way value with six points, six rebounds, and four steals, while Marren Berry contributed five points and 11 rebounds to help control the glass. Grace Buzzell also helped on the boards with five points and eight rebounds. The Chargers had earlier earned a Preliminary-round win over Lynn Vocational Tech, 49-21, where multiple players reached double figures, Marren Berry led with 14 points, and Girard chipped in 10 and a team-high 10 steals.
Blackstone-Millville entered the postseason as the No. 31 seed, and the Preliminary-round success provided a bright moment for the program. The lopsided loss to Millis showed the gap to the top seeds, but there is plenty to build on from the season. Players gained experience against high-level competition, and the program can use that growth heading into the offseason.
