WHITINSVILLE — Here’s a hands-on way to mark the 250th anniversary of American Independence.
The National Archives and the National Park Service are teaming up on a nationwide effort to transcribe Revolutionary War Pension Files belonging to more than 80,000 of America’s first veterans and their widows. The collection includes more than 2 million historical documents that need to be digitized and made searchable for researchers and the public.
Community members can take part in the project locally on March 11 at the Blackstone Heritage Corridor in Whitinsville. The event is open to anyone interested — just bring a laptop or tablet and be ready to help preserve a piece of American history.
