UXBRIDGE — The local community is coming together this spring to support longtime resident Jeff Burgess following his recent cancer diagnosis.
In October 2025, Burgess was diagnosed with Stage 4 Epithelioid Melanoma. Subsequent testing revealed that the cancer had metastasized to multiple organs. Since then, Jeff and his wife, Karen, have been working closely with specialists at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to determine the best course of treatment.
As Jeff undergoes continued medical care, family and friends are organizing a family-friendly community benefit to help offset the financial strain of medical expenses, travel, and time away from work.
The Benefit for Jeff Burgess will be held on May 16, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the VFW Post 1385 Hall, 13 Cross Road (not Street), Uxbridge, MA. The event will operate as an open house, allowing guests to come and go throughout the afternoon.
The fundraiser will feature food, a bar, a DJ, games, raffles, a silent auction, and a sponsor board. Organizers say the event is designed not only to provide financial assistance but also to bring the community together in support of the Burgess family.
Admission is $25 for adults, $10 for children ages 3–16, and free for children 2 and under.
Organizers recommend purchasing tickets in advance to assist with food planning. Tickets can be purchased via Venmo at @justine-doyon (last four digits of phone number: 5351). Buyers are asked to include “Benefit for Jeff” in the payment note.

Local businesses interested in donating raffle items, silent auction items, or monetary contributions can contact organizers directly at [email protected] or 508-320-5351.
