SOUTHBOROUGH — A man who was reportedly nearly hit by several cars while walking in traffic Tuesday morning has been arrested on drug charges.

Southborough Police say they received multiple calls around 8am about a man walking in the travel lanes on Turnpike Road near Deerfoot Road. An officer responded and offered to give the man a ride to the commuter rail station so he could head into Boston.

Before allowing him into the cruiser, officers conducted a routine search for weapons and say they found a baggie containing methamphetamine. Police then learned the man was also wanted on an active arrest warrant out of Quincy. He was taken into custody and now faces drug charges in addition to the outstanding warrant.
