UPTON – The Upton Fire Department saw a massive turnout at their holiday toy drive on December 7th, which projected 200 to 300 guests. During the “Pancakes with Santa” event sponsored by the Upton Men’s Club, the town’s police and fire department worked together to collect toy donations for families in need.

Upton Police had their enclosed trailer stuffed with donated toys, with the community response exceeding expectations, according to Sargeant Matthew Rankins.

When asked about the town’s response, Rankins mentioned that “It meant a great deal to all of us…Seeing families take the time to come out, donate, and support others really shows what kind of community Upton is”. Rankins added that “Events like this remind us that public safety is about more than emergency response—it’s about connection, trust, and neighbors looking out for one another”.

All toy donations were donated to Project Just Because, a 501(c)3 charity organization that supports families from nearby communities. This non-profit works hand-in-hand with families, schools, and partner organizations to ensure gifts and non-perishable items are properly distributed to children in need.

Residents can still donate new, unwrapped toys or non-perishable items to the Upton Police Headquarters until Christmas Eve, open 24/7 at 30 School St in Upton, MA. Rankins also recommends donating through the Project Just Because website or checking out other local charities.
