MEDWAY – Over the past two weeks, the Medway Holiday Fund’s “Pursuit of Presents” gift drive has been in full swing. Several toy donation and holiday events hosted by the gift drive have already taken place in Medway, yet there are still ways for residents to help families in need.
Since its ten-year lifespan, “Pursuit of Presents” has grown into a “community-wide effort” to help struggling families during the holiday season. After a successful debut in 2016, featuring five-thousand dollars’ worth of donated gifts, the drive partnered with The Santa Foundation to assist in gift distributions for Medway families in need.
Additionally, “Pursuit of Presents” partnered with Ocean State Job Lot to provide weekly holiday gift drives at the Medway Shopping Center. Until December 21st, Medway officers are on-site to collect toys and monetary donations from shoppers, every Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 10 AM. Venmo QR codes are also available on-site for monetary donations.
Lastly, “Pursuit of Presents” hosted their annual “Santa Night” yesterday at the Medway Parks & Recreation. Dozens of guests arrived at 4:30 PM to donate unwrapped gifts, treat themselves to delicious refreshments, and take pictures with Santa until 7 PM. All Santa pictures were provided by Tim Rice Photo in Medway.
Residents can still donate new and unwrapped gifts to the Medway Police Department front office. The department is open 24/7 and is always accepting new gifts until Christmas Eve.
