FRANKLIN – State Representative Jeffrey Roy and Congressman Jake Auchincloss joined Franklin officials this week to celebrate a major step toward expanding the Southern New England Trunkline Trail (SNETT).
According to local officials, Representative Roy worked with Congressman Auchincloss to bring together CSX and the Town of Franklin, creating a pathway for the town to acquire a stretch of former rail line. The acquisition would allow the SNETT to be extended beyond its current endpoint at Grove Street.
If fully completed, the new section would connect Grove Street to Union Street, significantly improving trail access and creating a continuous route across town. Franklin officials say the expansion marks meaningful progress toward enhancing recreation, connectivity, and outdoor mobility for residents.
