The Blackstone-Millville Chargers concluded their season with a respectable effort in a 21-12 road loss to No. 5 Hoosac Valley in the D8 opening round.
The Chargers (No. 12) battled hard and kept the game close; after Nate Oliveira’s 29-yard receiving TD, the score was knotted 6-6 at halftime. Hoosac Valley’s Qwanell Bradley ultimately delivered a pair of touchdowns that proved decisive, as the Hurricanes pulled away in the second half.
The Chargers had an impressive showing against the Hurricanes and played up to their competition. Unfortunately, Hoosac Valley’s offensive punch, headed by Qwanell Bradley, proved too much to bear for an outmatched Chargers defense.
Blackstone-Millville can take positives from a competitive showing against a top-five opponent and should return hungry next season. The Chargers matched up tough, pushed a quality Hoosac Valley team, and demonstrated growth that bodes well for the program’s future. Make sure to keep an eye out for Blackstone Valley next season as they aim to improve upon a great year and capture a playoff win next fall.
