MEDWAY – The State Police Bomb Squad assisted Medway Police and Firefighters after a homeowner discovered old explosives among a collection of historic railroad items.

Officials say the homeowner, a retired railroad worker, had stored the explosives, which were once used in railroad operations.

Agents from the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bomb Squad safely relocated the materials to the Broad Street Recycling Center, where they were detonated without incident.
