MILFORD – Authorities are still working to determine what sparked the four-alarm fire that tore through the building housing the Turtle Tavern in downtown Milford last night.

The blaze heavily damaged the three-story structure, which also includes apartments above the tavern, and forced the closure of several blocks along Main Street from Jefferson to Pearl as firefighters from multiple towns responded.

Police told local media that everyone inside the building was able to get out safely. There were also reports from the scene that some fire hydrants experienced issues as crews battled the flames.

No injuries have been reported, and officials have not yet released any information about the possible cause of the fire.
