UXBRIDGE – The chair of the Uxbridge Select Board, Brian Butler, has apologized after sharing a social media post that used AI-generated images depicting Democratic politicians as jungle animals — including portrayals of Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.

Speaking to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, Butler said he “probably should have thought longer” before reposting the content, which he described as political satire but acknowledged was seen by many as racist.

“I apologize to anyone who has taken offense to that posting,” Butler said, extending his apology to the town and to other members of the Select Board.
