SOUTHBOROUGH – Town Meeting voters in Southborough have approved a zoning change that would allow a Costco to be built on Coslin Drive, near Route 9 and the Westborough town line.
The proposed project would occupy roughly 20 acres, part of which extends into Westborough, and could feature a 125,000-square-foot store.
According to the Community Advocate, the company must still go through the site plan approval process before construction can move forward.
Supporters of the plan say bringing in a large commercial taxpayer like Costco would help broaden the town’s tax base and ease the property tax burden on residents.
