Franklin Police Cancel Annual Halloween Party Amid Budget Cuts

FRANKLIN – For the first time in more than 20 years, the Franklin Police Department will not be holding its annual Halloween Party.

The department says the cancellation comes after the failure of the 2.5% override earlier this year, which resulted in a $250,000 cut from its operational budget and the loss of two full-time patrol officer positions.

To maintain adequate patrol coverage, two officers from the Community Service Unit and School Resource Officer team were reassigned to patrol duties. With the reduced staffing, the department says it cannot host community events at this time.

Police are encouraging families to instead attend the Franklin Lions Trunk or Treat event tomorrow at Franklin High School.
