Medfield’s girls field hockey team held on for a narrow 4-3 victory over Hopkinton in a TVL showdown. Medfield had been strong this season, suffering only a pair of losses to high-quality Dover-Sherborn and Uxbridge teams, and carried momentum into the closely contested match with Hopkinton.

The win was a true team effort. Genna McDonald chipped in two goals, and Brooke Malmquist and Eva Thomson each added one; Thomson also recorded an assist. The Warriors’ ability to manufacture goals in different ways, transition, set pieces, and patient build-up proved decisive in holding off Hopkinton’s late pushes.

Medfield’s resilience showed through as the contest tightened; the Warriors leaned on structured defensive work and opportunistic finishing to get the result. Their next test is on the road against Holliston, and Medfield will look to maintain focus and consistency as the season progresses.

For Hopkinton, the one-goal margin is a learning moment in a season that will demand composure in tight matchups. Both teams showed they can compete at a high level, and upcoming matches will separate contenders from pretenders in the TVL.
