Uxbridge’s field hockey team began life in D3 emphatically, opening with a 10-0 rout of East Greenwich and following with a 4-0 victory over Acton-Boxborough. The Spartans, fresh off a D4 four-peat, have carried their offensive and defensive dominance into the higher classification. Aubrey Bouchard starred in the opener with four goals and was one of seven scorers, while Kendall Gilmore delivered a hat trick in the Acton-Boxborough game.
Beyond the scoring, Uxbridge’s defense and goaltending have been sharp, holding two consecutive opponents scoreless and demonstrating why the Spartans expect to be competitive at the higher level. The move to D3 presents stiffer tests, and one such test comes Friday at 7:15 PM when Uxbridge hosts Medfield, a program that finished as the No. 4 seed in D3 last season.
If the Spartans can maintain this blend of offensive firepower and defensive structure, they should be positioned well to remain a top contender in D3. Expect a heavyweight matchup Friday in Uxbridge that will further define their season.
