The Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton has broken ground on their new $6 million animal shelter. A ceremony was held last week for the building which is going up on 5-acres of Town-owned land on Fruit Street. The 8,200-square-foot shelter is well more than twice the size of the current shelter on Legacy Farms where Baypath has been for about 40 years. The new space will reportedly have medical facilities. Officials tell the Worcester Business Journal the shelter is expected to be up and running in the spring.
