Whitinsville-Christian’s Emily Flagg had a season for the books, bringing pride to her hometown across both cross-country and track and field. After finishing third at the D2 Cross-Country title race last fall, Flagg returned with a vengeance in the spring, and somehow raised her game even further. She was named the DVC Spring Runner of the Year based on a dominant outdoor campaign that saw her sweep both the 1-mile and 2-mile events at the DVC Outdoor Championships.
Her 1-mile win was a nail-biter, edging out teammate Emma Wierenga by just one second, but her 2-mile victory was dominant, winning by 34 seconds. Flagg continued her dominance at the state level, winning the D5 2-mile with a time of 11:14.43 and placing fourth in the 1-mile with a 5:13.61. She also competed at the Meet of Champions, taking eighth in the 2-mile, and earned a national top 50 ranking with a personal best of 10:50.21.
Now heading into her junior year, Flagg remains one of the state’s top distance runners and a strong candidate to bring home even more accolades in the seasons ahead.
