Hopkinton Softball continues its red-hot playoff run, blowing past Westwood 12-2 in the quarterfinals last Saturday to earn a spot in the Division 2 state semifinals. With another double-digit scoring effort and strong defense, the No. 2 Hillers are firing on all cylinders. Hopkinton’s playoff dominance has been consistent across three rounds. They opened with a 13-4 win over Shepherd Hill, followed by a 7-1 second-round victory against Marblehead. After Saturday’s rout of Westwood, the Hillers have outscored opponents 32-7 in the postseason. Next up is a semifinal showdown with No. 3 Bedford, a team that’s been just as dominant, shutting out all three of their playoff opponents by a combined 27-0 margin. The semifinal is set for tonight at 6:30 PM, and it could be Hopkinton’s toughest challenge yet. The Hillers have leaned on timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and shutdown pitching to cruise through the bracket. Bedford has demonstrated an ability to shut down their opposition that could be the difference against Hopkinton. With a spot in the state final on the line, all eyes will be on this top-tier matchup between two of Division 2’s most complete teams.
