Milford Legion Baseball Post 59 opened its baseball season in emphatic fashion, rolling past Grafton 15-1 in a five-inning mercy-rule win on Monday afternoon. The roster, which includes top talent from nearby towns like Hopedale and Uxbridge, put together a complete team effort to start the summer right. After allowing a run in the top of the first, Milford settled in quickly. The pitching trio of Anthony LaPierre, Heisler, and Hatherley locked down Grafton the rest of the way, combining for an efficient shutout after that opening frame. Milford’s offense caught fire after a scoreless first inning, scoring 15 unanswered runs across the second, third, and fourth innings. Shortstop Sam Schoenberg led the charge, racking up two triples and driving in six RBIs in a dominant individual performance. But Milford’s lineup had depth; center fielder Nick Koch, third baseman Sean McGee, and catcher Keith Lee combined to add six RBIs of their own. It was a commanding way to begin the season, and Post 59 will look to keep the bats hot as they host Main South for their home opener Thursday night.
