A Milford High School student who had been an immigration facility since being detained by federal agents last weekend on his way to a volleyball practice has been released from custody with an immigration judge granting him bond on Thursday. 18-year-old Marcelo Gomes Da Silva was allowed to return home from the Burlington ICE facility where has been held since ICE agents, saying they were looking for his father, detained him on the grounds that he, too, is in the country illegally. His attorney argued to the judge that he initially came to the country legally but has a lapsed visa, has no criminal record and is not a flight risk. He was released on $2000 bond and has a court hearing June 26, but his attorney says it could take up to a year for his case to resolve.
