Three Medway officers have been publicly commended by the police chief for their work on helping a couple who were victimized by a scammer. Chief William Kingsbury issued a public letter about the actions of Lieutenant Jeffrey Watson, Detective Sergeant Lauren Swarthout, and Patrol Officer Carl Sheppard for the incident in which an elderly couple lost nearly $200 to a Gold Bar scam. With the time and attention they gave to the case, they were able to get the money back. Kingsbury says this was the first time the department had seen this particular scam. He did not say if anyone was arrested.
