By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Franklin reportedly has two of the approximately 450 bridges around Massachusetts that are considered to be in such poor condition that they require major upgrades or outright replacement. Franklin Matters cites a Boston Globe study of Federal Highway Administration data which includes the north and south spans of the I-495 bridges over the MBTA railroad tracks and over Summer Street. Officials say that does not necessarily mean that they are currently unsafe, but they need attention to keep them safe.
